Two words can be all it takes to send a chilling bolt of electricity down your spine.
“Business plan”.
Even the most experienced business owners can clam up at the idea of crafting an effective business plan.
It can be a thing of terror, something that’s always on the ‘to-do’ list and never on the ‘done’ list (trust me, I know).
But, intuition – or even pure guesswork – can only get you so far.
In reality, the smartest decision-making needs an overarching strategy. One that is carefully targeted to carry you closer and closer towards specific goals.
A business plan is the best way out of doing that. Which is why helping to build or update a business plan is often one of the first steps I take with new clients. Unsurprisingly, they often find it’s best done with an experienced voice to bounce ideas off – and to hold them accountable.
At the same time, I make sure to take the pressure off, with this big secret:
An effective business plan does not need to be biblical in length. In fact, just a couple of sides of A4 might be all it takes to clearly articulate your business and goals.
(Even a short paragraph and a bullet list is better than nothing.)
But I know it can be difficult, which is why I’ve created this fear-free, actually-get-it-done free business plan template to get you started. It includes:
- All the main questions I ask my coaching clients about their businesses
- All the key details it’s important to record in one place
- An easy and achievable series of boxes to fill in and…
Voila! You have yourself a working business plan.
If you’re still not convinced your business needs a plan (Too small? Too new? Just you?), take a look at exactly how it can help you.
Alternatively, get your business planning sorted here.
So what are you waiting for? Crack open your template and fill it in – and you’ll have another entry for the ‘done’ list.
Kind Regards,
Chris
